Biography

Peter was born in 1790. He was the son of Abraham Studebaker (1739-1808) and Mary Magdalena Weisskopf (1740-1821).

He married Mary Simison (1796-1869) in Mercer, Ohio in 1821. They were the parents of the following children:

  1. Abram Studebaker I 1822-1824
  2. Rachel Studebaker 1824-1827
  3. David Studabaker 1827-1904
  4. Elizabeth Studabaker 1829-1901
  5. Catharine Studabaker 1834-1913
  6. Abram Studabaker II 1837-1906
  7. John Studabaker 1838-1851

They were the first settlers in Jay County, Indiana, along the Wabash River. Their son Abram I was the first child of settlers born in Jay County. Life was too harsh there and they returned to farm in Fort Recovery, Ohio for about 12 years. Later they moved to Adams County, Indiana.

He passed away in 1840 of Typhoid fever. His burial place is unknown.
