Biography

Philip Studer was born March 12, 1822 in Hagerstown, Washington, Maryland. He was the son of John Henry Studer and Fanny Forsythe.

Philip married Amanda Breece on August 31, 1851 in Knox County, Ohio. They came to Cedar County, Iowa in the early 1850's. They settled on a farm near Mechanicsville, Iowa where they lived until they both died. They bought the farm for $1.25 an acre.

Philip and Amanda had 12 children: John, Warren, Sarah, Jacob, Martha, James, Amanda, Catherine, Charles, Fanny, Daniel, and Clara.

Philip Studer passed away March 29, 1901 in Mechanicsville, Iowa and was buried in Union Cemetery, Pioneer Township, Cedar, Iowa.

Studer-228 and Studer-209 appear to represent the same person because: Birthdate is only off by one day and should be verified, same wife, same daughter, same location. Date of death needs to be verified and sources added. Thank you!
