Biography

He is the son of Jacob Stufflebeam and Elizabeth Bain.

Jacob Vinson was a farmer in Davis County, Iowa. He was divorced from Nancy before 1880. The 1880 Census lists Vincent as divorced, disabled with "dropsy", and living at the time, along with two of his sons (Elias T. age 16 and John, age 5) in the household of his younger brother Isaac in Davis County, Iowa.

He remarried in 1893 to Lucy Ann Riley, daughter of a neighboring farmer. In 1900 he was still in Davis County, again as head of family and farming, with Lucy and her brother Louis T. Riley, age 51, residing with him.

Jacob Stufflebeam - from the Bloomfield Democrat, December 14, 1922: Jacob Vinson Stufflebeam was born in Burlington, Iowa (wrong), August 1, 1837. His father was Jacob Stufflebeam and his mother was Elizabeth Bain Stufflebeam. From his marriage to Ellen Good of Davis County, Iowa, Five children were born, two of which died in early life, and Thomas, Anne, and John survive. The last known address of Thomas was Tulsa, Oklahoma and John, Waterloo, Iowa. Mr. Stufflebeam was married twice. His second marriage was to Lucy A. Riley of Davis County, Iowa who still survives and resides at Drakesville. Mr Stufflebeam was from a family of nine children and was the last survivor. He passed away at his home in Drakesville, Iowa, Saturday afternoon November 25, 1922, and funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church on Sunday afternoon by Rev. C. W. Cochran, pastor of the Methodist Church. Interment in the Drakesville Cemetery.
