Katharina immigrated to the United States, arriving in St. Albans, Vermont, on 12 June 1913. She traveled with her son Karl, his wife, and their three children, departing from Libau on the S. S. Russia.
Her son Karl lived in Milwaukee. While one might expect her to continue living with her son Karl, she now had access to children Philipp and Justina, and she very well could have lived with them. Justina had her mother-in-law living with her family for many years, so Katharina may have chosen not to live permanently with her. Since Katharina died in 1915, living permanently with any of her children was for a very limited period of time.
