Biography
Sarah Maurece Surratt was born on October 3, 1912, in Commerce, Hunt, Texas, United States. She was the daughter of Cletis Oran Surratt (1891–1982) and Sallie Lola Goodwin (1892–1959). [1] [2]
She married William Hollie Smith (1911–1962) in 1931. They had one daughter, Evelyn Juanita (Smith) Benton (1934-2014). [3]
Maurece (36) married Chester Hedden McDermett (43) (born on October 11, 1905, in Floydada, Floyd, Texas; son of Frank James McDermett and Sarah Frank (Bailey) McDermett) on November 20, 1948, in Texas. [4] Their son was Michael Lee McDermett (1951–2004).
Maurece died on June 14, 2005, in Lubbock, Lubbock, Texas, aged 92. [5] [6] She is buried in City of Lubbock Cemetery, Lubbock, Texas. [7]
