Mrs. Martha Sutton dies at 88
Mrs. Martha V. Sutton, 88, of 110 Jones Drive, Linwood, Lower Chichester, was pronounced dead on arrival on Saturday at Sacred Heart Hospital, Chester.
Mrs. Sutton, the former Martha V. Burler, was born in Chadds Ford, Birmingham and married the late Eugene Sutton, a local preacher, in 1907. He died in 1941. She was a long time active member and one of the oldest living members of the Marcus Hook Baptist Church, until her illness seven years ago.
She was the former president of the missionary society and former superintendent of the primary department of the church Sunday School.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Virginia Sutton, at home, a granddaughter and two great-granddaughters.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Robert Moreland Funeral Home, 9th and Main Streets, Trainer. Burial will be in Brandywine Baptist Cemetery, Chadds Ford.
Calling hours will be from noon until 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Interment Brandywine Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12 noon 'til 1 p.m. Please omit flowers.

Mrs. Ida Sutton, a resident of Marcus Hook and Linwood for the past 50 years, was found dead in bed in her home this morning. She was apparently in health when she retired last night. Death is believed to have been caused by a heart attack.
Mrs. Sutton, who was 73 years old, had been a member of Cokesbury Methodist Episcopal Church during the time she resided in the lower section of the county.
She is survived by three sons, Eguene Sutton, of Linwood; Fred Sutton, of Linwood Heights; and John Sutton, of Naamans Creek road, Del., and a daughter, mrs. James Maher, of Trainer.
Two brothers, Captain Frederick Posey, of Norfolk, Va., and Ralph Posey, of Charles county, Md. and two sisters, Mrs. Cora Burgess and Mrs. Ellen Tucker, of Washington, D. C., also survive.
Funeral servies and interment will btake place from the home of her son, John, on Naamans Creek road.</li>

<i>Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Mary Granger Grubb, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Grubb, of Beale street, and Dallas Fairhorn Sutton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Sutton, of 1342 Market street, Linwood. The ceremony was performed last Saturday afternoon in the parsonage of Ogden Baptist Church, with the Rev. Louis Fuesht, pastor, officiating.
Both young persons are members of the Ogden church, and both were graduated last June from the Philadelphia School of the Bible. They spent a brief honeymoon in Washington, D.C.; Luray, Va., and the Blue Ridge mountains and have temporarily taken up residence with the bridegroom's parents. Eugene Sutton is the superintendent of the Sunday school of Marcus Hook Baptist Church.
