Biography

Son of Joseph Robert Sweeten and Amanda Mandane Chapman.

He married Lovey Anna Bradley in 1905 in Texas.

They had one child, Thelma Elouise Sweeten, 1907-1978.

Joe S. Sweeten in 1910 was married to wife Lovey, age 18 b Texas. Daughter Thelma E Sweeten was age 2 b Texas.[1]

He married Vida Mae Wall about 1920 in Texas.

In 1920 Joe Sweeten was age 38 and his wife Vida was age 16. They were in Real, Texas.[2]

They had five children: Norman Joe (1920-1996), Sybil (1922-1999), William Maurice (1924-2004), Robin Earl (1930-2017) and Mary Nell b 1933.

Son Norman was born in 1920 in Barksdale, Real, Texas.[3]

In 1930 Joe S Sweeten was married to Vida and living in Precinct 2, Edwards, Texas. Wife Vida M was age 25 b Texas. Son Norman J was age 10. Daughter Sybil was age 8. Son William M was age 5.[4]

Son Robin Earl Sweeten was b 14 Oct 1930.[5]

Joseph in 1940 was in Justice Precinct 3, Real, Texas at age 58 with wife Vida age 37, son William age 15; son Robin age 9 and daughter Mary Nell age 7.[6]

He registered for the World War II draft from Camp Wood, Real, Texas.[7]

In 1950 Joseph Sweeten was a clerk in a feed store in Real County, Texas. Wife Vida was age 45. Son Robin E was age 19; daughter Mary N was age 17.[8]

He died in Austin, Texas in 1964.[9]
