Biography

John was born on August 23, 1807 to Luke and Susannah Silvester in Freedom, Maine, in Waldo County. His name is spelled Silvester on his birth record. On October 13, 1833, he married Nancy Pickard, in Penobscot, Maine. Their children include:

• Emeline Sylvester
• John B. Sylvester (Jr.)
• Ann Maria Sylvester
• Mary Alla Sylvester
• Warren Burgess Sylvester
• Wilber Wayland Sylvester

John, Nancy and at least some of their children moved west to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin before 1850. This movement still needs to be documented. John Sylvester died March 30, 1862 in Dodge County, Wisconsin and is buried in Beaver Dam.
