"NEVER COME SINGLY." A LUMPER'S MISFORTUNES. (published in NZ Herald 31 Jan 1910)
"INVERCARGILL, Sunday.
"While engaged in removing the hatches of the steamer Kaikoura, at the Bluff, on Friday, Albert E. Tall, 43 years of age, suffered a serious mishap, by which both his legs were fractured.
"In connection with the removal of the hatches a beam swings close to the deck, and this beam unexpectedly moved. Tall fell down, and crushed both his legs, each limb sustaining a compound fracture. The unfortunate man was brought to the hospital by the first train on Saturday morning, and it is understood that he has to undergo an operation.
"Tall has been particularly unfortunate. He had not long since resumed work after a nasty accident sustained on a chute, whilst shipping frozen meat, and recently his brother was killed in a somewhat similar accident."[2]
