Jane Talmage was born about 1845 in England, United Kingdom. She was the third daughter of Robert Talmage and Sophia Lambell.
The family, comprising herself, parents, brother John and sister Melinda, migrated to Victoria (Australia) aboard the Tudor; departing Southampton on 9th October 1854 and arriving at Port Melbourne on 30th December that year – just weeks after the infamous Eureka Stockade.
Jane married Alfred Peters on 24th September 1864 in Erskine Church, Carlton, Victoria. [1] The Age published the following report of the wedding: [2]
