Jonathan Tarbox, second son of Samuel and Rebekah Armitage, was born July 3, 1668; he married Eleanor Dodge about 1693. They lived in Lynn, Massachusetts Bay.[1]
Jonathan died before 1718, as in that year, Sept. 29, 1718, his widow Eleanor married John Gott, Sen., whose first wife was Jonathan's sister, Rebekah Tarbox. In their early married life John Gott and his wife had lived in Wenham, but as early as 1714 they had moved to Hebron, Ct., where Rebekah dying, her husband returned and married Eleanor Tarbox, the widow of Jonathan, Rebekah's brother. Eleanor long outlived her second husband, dying about 1770, not far from 90 years old.[2]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jonathan by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jonathan:
Aren't the two Eleanors listed as Jonathan Tarbox's wife the same person? She was first married to a Gott; then she married Tarbox. So when she married Tarbox she was a Gott. The naming system (listing women with all the names they accumulate during a lifetime, and in no particular order) is rather self-defeating. In any case, she is only one woman.
