Biography

Adeline Sophronia Tarkington was born in July 1870.[1] She was the daughter of Joseph Tarkington and Amanda Russell.[2] She grew up in Williamson County, Tennessee.[3]

By 1904, Sophronia had moved to Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee, where she worked as an operator for the East Tennessee Telephone Co.[4]

She married Thomas Jefferson Yarbrough on 11 December 1906 in Hamilton County, Tennessee.[5] They were married by H. B. Caulkins, J. P.[6] They were still living in Chattanooga in 1910,[7] but by 1914, they had moved to Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee.[8]

Sophronia died on 17 January 1937 in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee,[9] at the home of her niece, Amanda Mary (Whitman) Pybas.[10] She was buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery on 18 January 1937.[11]
