Biography

Date of birth inferred from burial record. It seems possible he came from Sternfield, since he was buried there. A possibly relevant MI recorded in the churchyard there is that of Thomas Taylor who died on 8.12.1771 at age 75. There are also a John Taylor died 1784 at age 48, and a Thomas son of Thomas who died in 1775. Note that the LDS film No 0992048 does not appear to contain any Sternfield baptisms. Note also the names of the witnesses to both his own and daughter Anne's weddings.

Marriage was by licence (= not listed in SoG book ML/GEN of Suffolk licences).

Both parties signed. Witnesses were Beth? Miles and Ann Copping.

A post on the web gives their children as John 1771 (Anne's marriage witness?) ch. Benhall, Althea 1779 Sternfield, Bishop 1781, Mirtha 1785 and Mary 1788 Sternfield (but no mention of Anne!)
