Biography

Agnes with her two daughters Ethel and Doris Bradley (middle and right), daughter-in-law Ida (left), and grandson Alan Bradley, circa 1920.

Agnes Florence Taylor was born on 6 October 1853 at Gloucester Terrace in Aston, Birmingham.[1] Her parents were William Taylor and Ann Eliza Corbett.[2]

Agnes married William Relph Bradley in 1879 in Birmingham.[3] Agnes and William had four children but only three are known:[4]

  • Ethel Florence Bradley was born on 22 May 1880 in Birmingham.[5] She never married and worked as a telegraph and postal clerk, later working as a post mistress.
  • Harold Willington Bradley was born on 4 August 1887 in Aston.[6] The Willington middle name was Harold's great-grandmother's maiden name. He was an insurance agent and married Ida Allen.
  • Doris Corbett Bradley was born on 1 May 1889 in Aston.[7] The Corbett middle name was Doris's grandmother's maiden name. She never married.


PROBATE OF HUSBAND: William "Ralph" BRADLEY died 27 March 1920, described of 12 Gladstone Road, and a 'Commercial Traveller', he left £550 15s 2d to his wife, Agnes Florence.
DEATH: Agnes Florence BRADLEY died Apr-Jun 1940 in Birmingham.
NOTICE: "Mrs. Agnes Florence Taylor, of 12, Gladstone-road, Sparkbrook, Birmingham, left £1383" (Evening Dispatch, 31 July 1940, p. 6.).

Research Notes

  • An Arthur Bradley was born Sep-Dec 1902 in Aston with mother's maiden name Taylor.[8] His death can't be found, so he might not be the fourth child of William and Agnes.
