Biography

Research Notes

No Sarah Teague in Arkansas, except for the southern counties that I can account for. A wildcard search of USA did not produce satisfactory results. However, a search for Sarah Alice no last name for Searcy County, did produce Sarah A. Brown in Wileys Cove and Sarah Hodges in Tomahawk.

Sarah Angeline Brown is listed as one of William's spouses that are linked on his FamilySearch page: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/9M9B-PN1 and Findagrave #41570913

Sources

Sarah Angelina Brown is correct according to a published Bible record of the Redman_Bratton Bible Record. Other evidence that this was William Baker's first wife is found in matching info from Searcy County census records. Sarah's mother, Mary Matthews/Brown/Redman was divorced from Sarah's father, Riley Brown, and remarried Redman. The Searcy County 1870 Census show the family as neighbors. Also, the obituary of Elizabeth Baker, "Aunt Betsy", Wm. Baker's second wife, was published in the Mountain Wave newspaper and was written by a niece who appears to be part of the Redman family. It makes sense that since "Aunt Betsy" was the second wife and raised the children, they would refer to her as aunt in their deceased sister's place.

I believe the last name "Teague" got mistakenly attached to Sarah from a photo shared with me which has written on the back, "Grandma Mary Elizabeth Teague Baker, mother of Grandma, Arka D Baker Williams. This was obviously written a couple of generations later, and there was a Teague relative by that name perhaps causing the confusion. Arkadelphia Baker Williams was the older sister of Sarah Angeline Brown Baker.

I cannot find how to edit the maiden name Teague to Brown.
