George was probably baptised at Ilkley, Yorkshire, on 4 December 1606, the son of Thomas Teal.[1]
He married Margaret Greenwood on 17 January 1631/1632 at Ilkley.[2] After this marriage there are baptisms for children of George Teal: Elizabeth 1632 (Of Stubham) Elizabeth 1633 (of Middleton), Anne and Dorothy 1637 (twins of Stubham), Mary 1641 (of Stubham Park) Margaret 1643 (no place given) and Jane 1646 (no place), perhaps more.
There is a burial of George Teal on 27 November 1645 at Ilkley[3] but there may be more than one George as appears from the children's birthplaces.
Research Notes
There is an earlier baptism at Ilkley for a George Teal 24 September 1598, son of George.[4] There is a burial of George Teal on 22 February 1604/1605 but this is probably the father.[5] Using George Teal 1606 for this marriage as he is nearer in age to Margaret, and the other George would have been over 30 at marriage, but further evidence may come to light. There are several George Teals in the Ilkley register.
