Margaret (Telford) McLaren was born in Scotland.

Margaret Telford, daughter of William & Ann, was born about 1849 in Stirlingshire, Scotland (based on census, passenger, & death records)

In the 1851 census Margaret (age 2) was the daughter of William Telford in Stonyett, Cadder, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

In 1854 Margaret (age 7) emigrated to Australia on the ship "Lord Stanley" with her family: parents William (age 31, Ag Lab, native of Down, Ireland) and Ann (29); siblings Elizabeth (12), Mary (4) and William (infant). They arrived in Geelong, Victoria on 30 June 1854 (after sailing from Liverpool on 1 March 1854)

Margaret married Alexander McLaren in 1866 in Victoria.

Margaret McLaren died in 1867, just 19 years old, in Ballarat, in the colony of Victoria (sometime after the birth of her daughter, Margaret Telford McLaren)
