Biography

Documentation for her name as "Neecooie" is not clear, but is identified by John L. Strange a former clerk and historian for the Cherokee Nation West, who determined these relationships through various claim records, but none that have been specifically identified by him.

On the other hand, her family is mentioned in citizenship papers, per depositions of the Chisholm family. These depositions are about the best information that can be found on family lines, but are no doubt imperfect. The family of Chief Thomas Chisholm recalls George as a half-brother to Thomas. Citizenship deposition tell us he is part Creek and part Cherokee. His mother is the daughter of Jack Thompson who was part Creek and had issue by Wailia Beamer; a Cherokee. Thompson lived near John D. Chisholm and Doublehead on the Tennessee River in what is now Alabama. These Alabama Cherokees moved into Arkansas and settled near Dardenelles, until removal to Indian Territory (Oklahoma). George is found among the records of J.G. Thompson's trading post located on the fork of the Arkansas and Canadian River, where Igantius and Thomas Chisholm settled as did many other Creek Path and Alabama families.
