Mathias Thorkelson. one of the oldest and most honored men of Racine, died about 6 o'clock this morning at his home, 1812 Washington avenue, aged 75 years, two months and six days. Deceased was born in Norway on March 9 1834, and settled in Racine in 1856. For some years he was engaged in the manufacturing business. Always ready to assist any and all deserving people, and at the same time progressive and helpful in the building up of the city, he became well and favorably known. There survives to mourn his death, the wife, ( Marit Halstensen Eggen) three sons, two daughters, and four brothers.
