Biography

William Tignor (Tignoll) was born to unknown parents, likely in England, before 1635.^[1] William paid taxes in Lancaster County, Virginia Colony, based on his labor force. The county assessed him for eight tithables (his being, at this assessment, the county's ninth largest labor force), 7 Dec 1655,^[2] and for nine tithables (making his labor force, at this assessment, tied for the county's ninth largest), 5 Nov 1656.^[3]
