He was a great big robust guy about 6 foot something. And he was a good lineman. His family was a pioneer family who settled in the Mount Pleasant area back in 1878.     Jax Beach Council Deplores His Death
    At the Monday night meeting this week of the mayor and city council of Jacksonville Beach, tribute was paid to the late William E. Tillotson an employee of the electric department of Jacksonville Beach who was accidentally killed last Saturday, when a resolution in memorial was introduced and adopted. A page of the minutes was authorized to be set aside to commemorate in reverent appreciation and esteem the memory of the deceased city employee. The resolution follows:
    “WHEREAS, William Eldridge Tillotson was accidentally electrocuted while actively serving the city in line of his duty on January 13, 1950, leaving behind him a record of more than ten years of faithful service to the city of Jacksonville Beach in the capacity of electric lineman and the Chief of Police; and
    “WHEREAS, his sincere and conscientious interest in discharging his duties and responsibilities so as to at all times advance the welfare of the public and render his community a more enjoyable place in which to live, won for him a well deserved admiration and respect throughout the community to the extent that his passing will be mourned by a wide and devoted circle of friends.
    “NOW. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE BEACH, FLORIDA:
    “Section 1. That in recognition of this valued service and contribution to the official activities of the City and the sadness caused by the departure from this life of the city’s loyal and faithful employee William Eldridge Tillotson, it is the will of this Council that a special page be set aside among the minutes of this Council to commemorate in reverent appreciation and esteem the memory of William Eldridge Tillotson.
    “Section 2. That heartfelt sympathies of the members of the Council are extended to his widow and children, and that copies of this Resolution be transmitted to each of them by the City Clerk.” [4][1]
