Biography

Joel was born in 1784. He passed away before 1854.

In 1830, one of the land acquisitions Joel made is in Nash Deed Book 18 page 430; Benjamin Ferrell to Joel Tisdale Feb. 26 1830 275 acres on Moccasin creek in both Johnston and Nash including the grist mill. Witnessed by David Winborne (his brother in law) and Elisha Tisdale (his brother).

The estate settlement of Joel Tisdale in Nash County, 1855: ..."the said Joel Tisdale did depart this life intestate leaving your petitioners Elizabeth, Polly Hill, Harriet, Atsey, Nancy wife of Samuel Sullivant, Kijah Tisdale & John Tisdale his only heirs at law & that the said Samuel Sullivant & wife Nancy, Kijah Tisdale and John Tisdale have by deeds duly executed conveyed their interests & rights in said several tracts of land to your petitioner Henderson Hocutt" ....

There are 754 acres of land mentioned in the division along and on both sides of the Nash / Johnston border (Moccasin Creek). Joel's residence was in the northern most tract that borders the Sycamore Creek and Moccasin creek.
