DELHI — Hazel Todd Fairbairn died July 15, 2001, at Countryside Care Center in Delhi, where she had been a resident for many years.

Mrs. Fairbairn was born on May 27, 1909, in the Dry Brook Valley, where she grew up and spent most of her adult life. She was the 10th child and last survivor of the Sabra Knickerbocker Todd and Lyman H. Todd family. Her brothers were George, Charles, Sylvaneus, Leland and Lyman Jr., and her sisters were Sadie Baker, Ethel Hanley, Florence Fuller Todd and Mary Elizabeth, who died in childhood.

She married Hiram J. Fairbairn on Nov. 26, 1927, who preceded her in death in January 1962.

Mrs. Fairbairn is survived by a son, Allen T. Fairbairn and his wife, Marjorie of Rome, Pa., and St. Augustine, Fla.; and a daughter, Shirley F. Truran and husband, Kenneth of St. Augustine, Fla. She had eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Fairbairn will be remembered for her fondness of blackberry picking, making pies and breads and playing pinochle with her friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 27, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the Advent Christian Church in Margaretville. A private graveside service for family members will be held immediately following the church service at the cemetery in Clovesville, where Mrs. Fairbairn will be laid to rest next to her late husband.

Friends may call at the church one hour before the funeral service. A luncheon for family and friends will be held at the church, following the service.

In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Fairbairn requested that donations be made in her name to the Salvation Army.

Arrangements are by Hynes Funeral Home of Margaretville.^[5]
