Charles was a master saddler.[4] In November 1904, he carried on his business in Church Street, Mudgee.[5] He was elected an alderman for the Municipality of Mudgee in 1908.[6]
By 1916, Charles and his family had moved to Sydney, New South Wales.[7][8][9]
