Biography

Francis Tomson was born on March 15, 1735 in Halifax, Plymouth County, Province of Massachusetts. His parents were Thomas Thompson and Martha Soule.

He married his first wife, Rebecca Snow on May 19, 1761 in Middleborough.[1]

Together they had 1 child:

  1. Zilpha Thomson
  2. Rebecca Tomson
  3. Elias Tomson

He married his second wife, Mary Bumpas on 17 December 1769 in Middleborough.[2]

They had the following children:

  1. Thomas Thompson
  2. Cynthia Thomson
  3. Reuel Thomson
  4. Mary Tomson
  5. Francis Tomson

He died on February 17, 1798 in Middleborough, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States

Probate

The will of Francis Tomson of Middleborough, yeoman was dated 20 November 1798 and proved on 31 December 1798 in Plymouth. He mentioned his wife Mary, and his children, Elias Tomson, Thomas Tomson (executor), Ruel Tomson, Zilpha Cushman, wife of Noah Cushman, Cynthia Cox, wife of John Cox, and Molley Thomson. [3]

His inventory was recorded on 7 January 1798.[4]

In 1799, an account of his estate by Thomas Tomson was recorded which included the sale of personal estate, debt collected, debts paid, appraisers, provisions for the family, legacies paid, and administration fees.[5]
