Biography
Augustus was born in August between 1834[1]-1836[2] in Massachusetts. He was the son of Mary M. Williams and Davenport Toney.
He was the brother-in-law of Civil War soldier William L. G. Manuel of the all-black 54th Massachusetts regiment who died while in service.
