Birth

No record has been found of the birth of Mary A. Towne, and her parents are unlnown. According to her death record, she was born at Rockingham, Vermont, and her age at her death computes to a birth date of 5 Oct 1818.^[1] Her gravestone says she was born in 1819.^[2] The death record of her son Albert M. Kendall says that his mother was born at Saxtons River, Vermont.^[3]

Marriage

Mary A. Towne married Horace Kendall, who is named as her husband on her gravestone.^[2] In 1850, Horace Kendall, 31, farmer, and Mary A. Kendall, 30, were living at Alstead with two children, both 2 years old, Albert M. Kendall and Ann M. Kendall. All members of the household had been born in Vermont.^[4]

Death

The widow Mary A. (Towne) Kendall died from heart failure at Westminster, Vermont, on 27 Dec 1893, with her age at her death recorded as 75 years, 2 months, 22 days.^[1] A transcription of gravestone markings from the Saxtons River Cemetery in the village of Saxtons River in the town of Rockingham, Vermont, says that her gravestone is inscribed with the dates 1819-1893.^[2]
