Funeral services for Leon Townsend were held February 6, 2007, at Young's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. S.L. Bibbs officiating and Rev. Charles Reaves assisting. Burial was held in the church's cemetery with Roberts & Sons Mortuary of Winona in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Townsend, 81, of the Young's Chapel Community, died February 1,2007, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Lespeda Townsend of the Young's Chapel Community; sons, Eddie Townsend of Winona, James Townsend of Meridian, Bernard Townsend of Mableton, Ga., Arthur Townsend and Danny Townsend, both of Marrietta, Ga., Douglas Townsend of the Young's Chapel Community, and Leroy Townsend of Tacoma, Wash; daughters, Teresie Townsend and Mary J. Doyle, both of the Young's Chapel Community; 45 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
