Tragic that any child should die so young, but especially one named for such a colorful character as General Maxcy Gregg. [1]
Washington Street Methodist Church records [2] and Maxcy's Find A Grave memorial [3] show his date of death as 23 Dec 1861 and his date of interment as 26 Dec 1861, but family papers recorded his death as 29 Sep 1860, at the age of one, and indicate that he was buried with his younger unnamed brother who was born 31 Aug 1860 and died the following day on 01 Sep 1860. It may be that the boys were buried somewhere else and then re-interred at the Methodist Church the following year.
