Biography

Born Thomas was born in 1797 and baptised on 14 August 1797 in St. Margaret's, Westminster, London ^[1]. His parents were named Thomas Trott and his wife Mary.

Marriage Thomas married Jane Elliott by banns on 6 June 1819 in St John the Evangelist, Smith Square, London, Westminster ^[2].

In 1851 ^[3] Thomas (53) "Broker" and Jane (55) were living at 13 Paradise Street St Marylebone Middlesex together with their daughters Sarah (18) and Ann (9) see Research Notes.
In 1861 ^[4] Thomas (63) "dealer in miscellaneous goods" and Jane (65) were living at 2 Upper Rathbone Place St Marylebone Middlesex. Also in the household was the 78 year old lodger Thomas Elmes, "joiner".

Died Thomas John Trott "of 2 Upper Rathbone Place" ^[5] died age 64 in 1861 ^[6] and was buried on 16 October 1861 in London ^[5].

Research Notes

• No Census return for 1841 has been identified to date.
• Children The baptism records of the five children listed above clearly stated that their parents were Thomas John Trott and his wife Jane. In 1851 ^[3] Ann Trott aged 9 was listed as "daughter" in the household. No baptism record has been identified and there is no birth registration on the GRO website. There is one birth registration in Marylebone in DEC 1841 for Ann Trott ^[7] but the mother's maiden name is Andrews. It remains unclear who Ann Trott was.
• It is not altogether clear where Thomas was buried; the record ^[5] does not name the cemetery. Certainly he was not buried in Brompton Cemetery where his wife was later buried ^[8].
