In 1870, Smith Troy, a farmer, lived with his wife Laura and two children in Clallam County, Washington.^[1]

In 1880, Smith and Laura B. Troy, and four children lived in "Up The Coast," Clallam County, Washington. Smith as a farmer.^[2]

Minerva E. Lewis and John Troy were married on 14 Dec 1892 in Port Angeles, Clallam, Washington. Minerva was born in Vassar, Michigan, to Freeborn S. Lewis and Edna A. Thompson. The ceremony was performed by W. W. Ferrier, Pastor of the Congregational Church, and the witnesses were W. K. Clark and Frank Fisher.^[3]

In 1900, John W. Troy, a reported, lived in Skagway, Southern District, Alaska Territory, with his wife, a daughter and his mother-in-law.^[4]

In 1910, John W. Troy, an insurance salesman, lived in Seattle, King, Washington, with his mother-in-law and two daughters. Although John is married, his wife is not shown in the home.^[5]

In 1940, John Weir Troy, 70 b. Washington, the Territorial Governor of Alaska, lived in Juneau, Juneau District, Alaska Territory. Although he was married, his wife was not present. His daughter, widow Helen Bender, 40 b. Alaska, lived with him.^[6]
