James was born in 1923.[1] He was the son of Alphonse Trudel.[1] He married twice: first Isabelle (Trudy) Dalby, then Barbara Dykes.[1] He passed away in 2009 in Edmonton.[1]
James is part of a One Place Study focusing on the Dawson Huts which were located in the historic neighborhood of Bonnie Doon in Edmonton. Like other residents of the Huts, he served Canada in WWII, first as a boy soldier with the Edmonton Fusiliers 101st Battalion then later with the Canadian Navy.[1]
