Biography

Stephen, child of Charles & Sarah, was baptised on 4 September 1792 in Cranleigh, St Nicholas, Surrey, England.[1].

Stephen married Mary Hampshire on 19 July 1817 in Horsham, Sussex, England.[2].

The family name spelling changed between leaving England and Arriving in America . The UK Spelling is Trusler or Trussler, his brother John who also emigrated continued to spell his name Trusler in America. Stephen and his decendents used the Tusler spelling.

On 04-10-1832 he left England along with his wife, five sons, and 1 daughter on the sailing vessel Sovereign. They were on water for 7 weeks and 2 days. They located in Oneida Co, NY. In 1835 they moved to Warren County, PA. In 1844 they moved to Dane County, Wisconsin[3].

Stephen was in Freehold, Warren, Pennsylvania in 1840. At this time there was a family of 8 in total.[4] In the 1850 census Stephen (age 58), Farmer, was in Rutland, Dane, Wisconsin, United States.[5]

1855 Dane County, Wisconsin In the 1870 census Stephen (age 77), and wife, Mary(75) Farmer, were in Rutland, Dane, Wisconsin.[6]

In the 1880 census Stephen (age 89) was the widower father of Albert Turler in Rutland, Dane, Wisconsin, United States.[7]

Stephen died on 12 January 1885 and was buried in Stoughton, Dane County, Wisconsin, United States[3].

Stephen's estate passed probate on 4 February 1885 in Dane, Wisconsin.[8].
