The daughter of Troy Trusler and Edna Green, Joan was born in Lancaster, Fairfield County, Ohio on 12 Dec 1926.

She married Edward Dale Kraner at Methodist parsonage in Carroll, Fairfield County, Ohio on 22 Aug 1948. ^[1] They had one child, son Tracy Kraner.

She passed away at a long-term care facility on 27 Jul 2016 and is buried in Carroll Cemetery in Carroll, Fairfield County, Ohio. ^{[2] [3]}
