Biography

Maria Tubbs, daughter of William Tubbs and his wife, Jane Wheeler was baptised at St Wolfreda, Horton in Dorset on 29 March 1785. ^[1] About 1809 Maria gave birth to an illegitimate daughter whom she called Ann Temperance. ^[2]

It was thirty years later that she married widower David Cutler, son of Joseph Cutler and his wife, Bathsheba Bessant, at Horton on 23 October 1838 ^[3] and lived with him initially at Wimborne St Giles, together with her daughter Anne and Anne's husband John Parsons.^[4] They were living in Holt in 1851. ^[5]

David died in 1859 and was buried at Horton on 24th September. ^[6] In 1861 Maria was living with John and Ann Parsons at Horton Heath. ^[7]
