Margaret Gillespie was enumerated at Elyton, Hagoods Precinct, Jefferson County, Alabama for the July 2, United States Census, 1860. She was noted as born 1828 in Alabama as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are male J L Gillespie, female Florence Gillespie, male Peyton Gillespie, male John Gillespie, male Joseph Gillespie and female Barthena Gillespie.^[1]

M Gillespie was enumerated at Mt. Pinson Post Office, Township 15 Range 1 West, Jefferson County, Alabama for the July 14, United States Census, 1870. She was noted as born 1826-1827 in Alabama and keeps house as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are male J A Gillespie, female F Gillespie, male P Gillespie, male J A Gillespie, male Joseph Gillespie, female P Gillespie, female M Gillespie, female P Gillespie, female F Gillespie, male Felix Gillespie and male Jas Gillespie.^[2]

She was noted as a farm woman and born July 1827 in Alabama. She was widowed and an owner. She was the mother of nine children of which five were still living as seen in an image of the original census. Also included in the household is boarder Bertha Carlisle.^[3]

Margaret Turnbough is listed as the mother of Parthania H Wilson who died January 9, 1929 in Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida. The father was listed as James Gillespie.^[4]
