Biography

Shadrack Turner was born c.1726 in Queen Anne's Parish, Prince George's County, Maryland. His father was John Turner and his mother was Elizabeth Brashears, daughter of Samuel Brashears and Ann Johnes. [1]


Shadrack's wife's name was Sarah.


Death and Will

Shadrack died Nov. 8, 1799, (probate). His will is recorded in Prince George's Will Book #1 (1797-1803).

Shadrack Turner (1720 - 1784) of Henry County, Virginia

SHADRACK2 TURNER (JOHN1) was born October 30, 1720 in Cornwallshire, England, and died July 22, 1784 in Henry County or Halifax County, Virginia. About 1730, approximate date that SHADRACK emigrated from England to America. He married ANN POLLARD OR HILL 1745 in Patrick County, Virginia. She was born Abt. 1724 in Prince George, Virginia, and died Aft. May 05, 1811 in Henry, Virginia.

Seven children of SHADRACK TURNER and ANN HILL are:

i. ELIZABETH P. TURNER, b. Abt. 1747, Pittsylvania County, Virginia; d. August 02, 1845, Patrick County (Pittsylvania), Virgina.

ii. JOHN M. TURNER, b. Abt. 1749, Luneburg County, (now Halifax County), Virginia; d. February 10, 1816, Franklin County, Virginia.

iii. JOSIAH TURNER, b. Bef. 1751, Henry County, Virginia; d. December 11, 1838, Franklin County, Virginia.

iv. WILLIAM TURNER, b. November 20, 1753, Halifax County, Virginia; d. December 11, 1845, Henry County (Later Franklin County) , VA..

v. MARY TURNER, b. 1755, Kentucky; d. 1810, Wayne Co., KY..

vi. LARKINGTON "LARKIN" TURNER, b. Abt. 1764, Virginia; d. 1825, Cumberland Couty, Kentucky.

Note:

At Fairy Stone State Park, known for its 168 acre lake adjoining Philpott Reservoir in Virginia, there is a Picnic shelter that is used for the annual Allied Families of Henry, Patrick, and Franklin Counties. Many plagues hang on the wall commemorating the memory of ancestors. Shadrack's plaque is amongst them. Fairy Stone State Park, 967 Fairystone Lake Drive, Stuart, VA 24171-9588. Location: Central Virginia, Near Martinsville, Access by Route 57 from Bassett or from the Blue Ridge Parkway via Routes 58, 8 and 57.

1746, 21 November: Appears in King & Queen Co., Virginia. 1747: Witnessed will of William Wood to Robert Page in Goochland, County, Virginia which adjoins Hanover County. 1759: Obtained land patent for 104 acres in Lunenberg Co., VA. 1767: Shadrack, and sons John & Josiah appear on Pittsylvania County, Virginia tithables list with 256 acres of land. 1777-83: Gave aid and assistance to patriots: Diets for Henry County Militia, Use of horse, Nine diets to Capt. Rubel's Camp Company, Four diets & fifteen lbs. fodder to Col. Crockett's Regiment. 1779: Granted 336 acres of land on S. side of Town Creek. 1779, 22 April: Conveyed 20 acres on Town Creek to his son William. 1783, 25 October: Drew up Last Will & Testament. 1784, 22 July: Will probated
