Research Notes

He married [10]
  1. Catherine De'Lorn in 1666 in Montreal , she died in Montreal on Mar 9, 1683. [10]
  2. Marie Charlotte Beauvais dit St-Jemme on October 30, 1684 in Montreal, daughter of Jacques Beauvais dit St-Jemme & Jeanne Soldé , of Montreal. Marie Charlotte was born June 26, 1667 in Montreal and died Dec 25, 1700 Montreal, only days after her last child was born. [10]
  3. Pierre Alexandre married his third wife Marie Gautier on Feb. 25, 1702, by whom he had a son, and then a daughter born Aug. 17, 1705, [10]
Pierre died sometime after this date. Some records say he died Sept 15, 1709, and some records indicate he was listed in the 1710 Detroit census, later in Kaskaskia, Ill. post. Therefore one of these dates has to be incorrect.[10]

Perhaps the other Pierre Alexander Turpin listed as his son b 1660 in Montreal is the one listed in Detroit and Kaskaskia? Also son Pierre Alexander is born in Montreal before his father's 1661 marriage to Catherine Delor in France. Do we know when Alexander b 1641 arrived in Nouvelle France? Is the son perhaps from a different father?

Date of death

Alexandre's widow was remarried 16 September 1709 which establishes the date by which he was known to have died.

Should the name Pierre be associated with him? It looks to be an error from Tanguay's work.
