"Sir Thomas Twisden, 1st Baronet (8 January 1602 – 2 January 1683)[1][2][3] was an English lawyer and politician who sat in the House of Commons of England in two periods between 1646 and 1660. He was a High Court judge who presided at the trial of regicides" [4]
Thomas Twysden was born in 1602, the second son of Sir William Twysden Bt. and his wife, Anne Finch. [5] They lived at the manor of Bradbourne in the parish of Sevenoaks.
He married Jane Tomlinson, daughter of John Tomlinson and his wife, Eleanor Dodsworth.[6] They were parents of 5 sons, 2 of whom died in Thomas' lifetime, and 6 daughters.[5]
Although he was the son of a baronet, he did not inherit his father's title (Twysden of Roydon). Instead, in 1666 he was created Baronet Twisden of Bradbourne, co. Kent in the Baronetage of England. This title gave him the equivalent status of a knight.
Thomas passed away 2 January 1683 at Bradbourne, East Malling and was buried at East Malling. [5][1][2][3]
