Elizabeth Jane Tynes was born in March 1810 in Nassau, Bahamas to Dr Benjamin Tynes and his first wife, Elizabeth Hayward Dorsett Tynes. She was baptized 15 July 1810 at Christ Church, Nassau, and it was noted in her baptism record that that her mother was recently deceased.
Elizabeth Jane's name appears in the Bahamas Slave Registers - her father gave each of his minor children slaves as they were born.
Elizabeth Jane Tynes married George Campbell Alexander Anderson, son of John Anderson and Susannah Wylly Anderson, about 1833 - 1834. The couple had a daughter Georgiana Hill Anderson in 1835, and a son George Campbell Anderson Jr. born in 1839. Neither of the children survived their childhood.
Elizabeth Jane Tynes Anderson died 1 October 1841 in Nassau, Bahamas at the age of 31 years. She was buried in St. Matthew's Anglican Church Cemetery and a memorial plaque was placed by her family in Christ Church.
