William Lawrence Tyquin was born on 26th May 1920 in Kew, Victoria, Australia. He was the son of James Tyquin and Hilda Savige. Following his mother's death in 1924, William and his brother were raised by their Uncle Stan Savige.
He served in the 2nd Australian Imperial Force during the Second World War, enlisting on 6th August 1942, discharged 3rd December 1945.[1] He was a senior non-commissioned officer in 4th Field Regiment, serving in New Guinea.[2]
Whilst on leave from the army, he married Yvonne Gibbons in 1943 in Victoria.[3]
He passed away in 1999.[4]
