Biography

John was born in 1784. He is the second son of Thomas Tyson and Margaret Siler. John became a very successful planter in North Carolina, owning a large number of slaves. He operated a lumber mill as well as a mill that ground corn and wheat.[1]

John married Margaret Bethune, from the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

He died in 1851 and is buried in the Old Scotch Graveyard, Moore County, North Carolina [2]
