From the book: "Tyson Family History: Descendants of John & susannika Tyson" Revised Vol. I by Jerry Tyson Barton, Source: In 1964, Rev, Francis Campbell Symonds D. D. published a work entitled "THE DESCENDANTS OF FOUR FAMILIES OF THE FIRST COLONY OF VIRGINIA IN 1609". Symonds concludes that the father of our earliest documented ancestor, John Tyson who died in Northampton County Virginia, was William Tyse. His logic for arriving at that conclusion is included in the following excerpts from that work: "In John Camden Hotten, "Our Emigrant Ancestors", page 130: '24 Oct... 1635. Aboard the Constance, Clement Cmpanion Mr. (Master) Bound for Virginia...Wm Tyse, 20 years'. William was therefore bom about 1615, In 1679 this William Tyson would be about 64 years old and a son could be about 43. There was on March 27, 1679, a John Tyson in Northampton County, Virginia (Deed Book 11,page 181) "I William Andrews of Northampton County... to John Tyson of county aforesaid, planter, and Susannika his wife and Matthias Tyson, their son"
