Obit: Memorial services for Jimmie Don Ulrich, 74, of Lufkin will be held Friday, May 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dan Crawford officiating. A reception will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Crown Colony Country Club, 900 Crown Colony Drive, Lufkin. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home. Jimmie Don was born December 7, 1941 in Houston, Texas to the late Donald S. and Irene (McGrath) Ulrich, and died Monday, May 23, 2016 in a local hospital. Jim graduated from Reagan High School in Houston, and attended The University of Texas. He served in the U.S. Army as a Cobra helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War, and received many medals for valor. Jim was the owner of Jim Ulrich Motors in Crockett for many years. Always a community leader, he served as a Rotary President and as President of Spring Creek Country Club. Jim was an avid hunter and golfer. Six years ago, he moved to Lufkin and worked at Wright Buick and GMC. Survivors include his stepsons, Stephen and Mary McClain of Georgetown and Gordon McClain and wife Rena of Whitehouse; grandchildren, Anna McClain, Sam McClain, Jacqueline McClain and Justin McClain; sister, Jeanne Cline of New Braunfels; nephew, Wesley Swanson and wife Carla of Houston; great-nephew, David Swanson; great-niece, Ashleigh Swanson; beloved friends, Eddie and Dianne Walker of Fort Worth; and a multitude of friends. Honorary pallbearers will be S.C. Maxwell, Austin Wright, Gary Ivins, Sr., Gary Ivins, Jr., Mike Davis, Brad Knox, Larry DeLong, Rob Nystrom, Jeff Todd, Paul Wright, and Willie Josey. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904, or a charity of your choice.
