La Porte City Progress Review, March 2, 1933: "Were Wed at Galena, ILL, Miss Evelyn E. Unger and Harold F. Clark Contracting Parties.
"A marriage of much interest to the younger set is that of Miss Evelyn E. Unger and Harold F. Clark, which was solemnized Tuesday, February 21st, and which has been kept secret until now. The lives of these popular young people were united by the single ring service which was read in the parsonage of the ME church in Galena Ill by the pastor, Rev. W.S. -eldwisch. The parents of the bride Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Unger, witnessed the ceremony. The bride wore a hyacinth blue crepe frock with harmonizing accessories.
"Following the wedding the party returned to La Porte City and drove out to the Clark farm where a bounteous wedding dinner was served at six thirty to the close relatives in honor of the bride and groom. A color scheme of pink and white was followed in the table decorations and in the menu.
Mr. and Mrs. Clark are well and favorable known in La Porte City and vicinity, where both have spent all their lives. The bride is the only child of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Unger and a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Unger. She completed her high school course with the class of 1932 and since then has devoted her attention to domestic duties. She has been taught the culinary art and is well qualified to do her part in the new home that will be established. The groom is the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Budd Clark and is an enterprising young farmer. He finished the prescribed course in the La Porte City public school with the class of 1930 and has assisted his father on the home farm west of town, in the intervening time.
After March 15th Mr. and Mrs. Clark will be at home on the place known as the Mayes farm which is west of town and is now owned by W.P.Hager of Long Beach, California."
