Biography

Jane was born in about 1825. daughter of John Vipond

She married James Pickering on 30 June 1844 at St Mary's church, Eccles, Lancashire.^[1]

She had 7 children with him while living in Havelock, Marlborough, New Zealand. She acted at the executrix for her husband's estate when James died in 1883. She signed official documents with "her mark" indicating that she couldn't read or write.^[2]
