Ellen McGRATH is assumed to have been born in Ireland in 1820 (calculated from shipping details[1]).
She was married to John McGRATH.
In Ireland, Ellen and John had two children, Dennis and Margaret.
The family immigrated to Australia on board the Ship Sir Edward Perry. They arrived in South Australia Feb 9 1854[2].
Shipping details provided Ellen's age of 34 years in 1854.[3]. It also states the family is from Limerick, Ireland, with John's occupation listed as farm servant. The last name is also noted to have alternative spelling of MAGRATH.
Aboard the ship to Australia, Ellen gave birth to a daughter, their third child.
The family settled in South Australia.
There is a birth record for a John MAGRATH, 1 Jul 1856 in Yankalilla, South Australia, Australia, Father : John MAGRATH. Mother: Ellen KEATING. [4].
Although, no record is of the son Geurin MCGRATH. Geurin had nine children with his wife Catherine NESTOR. On their children's birth records, Geurin's name has various spellings including Garin, Garen, and Guren.
As of August 2019, a definitive connection between Guerin McGRATH and parents John and Ellen MCGRATH cannot be made (although these profiles are currently linked on WikiTree)
