Biography

Esther, daughter of John Jackson and Ruth Beall, was born say 1709 in Maryland. She died in 1783 at Baltimore, Baltimore County, MD.

She married first circa 1728, at Rock Creek Parish, Prince George's County, MD, John OFFUTT, son of William OFFUTT and Mary BROCK. Possible children (surname OFFUTT): William Johnson (m. Letitia HARRIS) and 3 others according to a deed from Esther to her 2nd husband which said she had 7 children, but there is no real evidence for their names.

On 15 Apr 1743, Esther and John OFFUTT deeded about 49 and 1/2 acres of a parcel called Brock Hall, inherited from his grandfather and bounded by James Offutt's part of said tract, to James Drain for £37 2s 6p at Prince George's County, MD. She was an heir and executrix in the will of her husband John OFFUTT dated 10 Sep 1743 at Prince George's County, MD, to have the dwelling plantation, 150 acres on Rock Creek bought from John Ray, and his entire personal estate.[1]

On 13 Feb 1743/44, Esther Offutt deeded 500 acres of her dwelling plantation and adjoining land along with 150 acres on Rock Creek inherited from her dec'd husband John Offutt at Prince George's County, MD, to Dr. Ephraim Andrews. In return, Dr. Andrews was to pay £20, 5 shillings to each of her 7 children at age 21. This arrangement was probably in anticipation of their approaching marriage.

Esther //. Couldn't find any valid last name at birth.

Evidence supporting her identity is the will of Margaret Beall Jackson which mentioned a nephew Zachariah Offutt, probable son of John Offutt and Esther Jackson.
