Biography

This profile originally stated (without source) that Sarah was born about 1620 at Market Harborough, Bowden Magna, Leicestershire, England. However, given that her children were born between 1652 and 1666 she was more likely born around 1625. She was definitely younger than Aaron (he was about 54 in 1666).

Whether her origins were New England, England, Scotland or elsewhere nobody has yet determined. Her first name of Sarah comes from a Sarah Stark who witnessed a deed of Aaron's with the assumption that she was his wife but that also is unproven.

Her fate is unknown, there is speculation that she was part of Captain John Mason's household, possibly a servant. The Stark Family Chronicles website (see below) quotes and analyzes some interesting research about a Widow Stark who owned land in what is now Groton, Connecticut in January 1696/97. The author's conclusion is that this was most likely the widow of Aaron Stark Jr, but his death is also uncertain. It is widely reported as "before 1721" because of a deed involving an Aaron Jr but it is apparently possible that that "Aaron Jr" was actually Aaron the 3rd, grandson of the immigrant and that his father Aaron Jr, son of the immigrant was actually dead by 1696. Again, none of this is proven with certainty.

I could not find any sources confirming Sarah's maiden was Fish. However, in the Everton Pedigree and Family Group Sheets, it says that Sarah's maiden name is Ireland and her father is Samuel Ireland. That source on MyHeritage is wrong...Samuel Ireland was 32 in 1635, which means he was born in 1603, though some say about 1608...It also says that Sarah was born in 1610....the math doesn't add up....if the one and only document you can find doesn't list her maiden name, she should be be Sarah Unknown, because the first Sarah Fish is Sarah Stark who married Samuel Fish, the son of John Fish....I've been working on the John Fish biography for a while now and it's mired in so much supposition and guesswork that it's difficult to sort fact from fiction...unless of course you can find a different Samuel Ireland born in the late 1500's who had a daughter named Sarah she should not be Sarah Ireland either.
