Biography
Jane was born around 1801.
She married John Hillier in England.
They migrated to South Australia with their six children on the Katherine Stewart Forbes in 1837. The immigrant family was John Hillier (45, agriculturist), Jane (33), and children William (17), Mary (15), Caroline (12), Jane (10), John (4) and Frederick (1/2).[1]
Jane was a teacher both in England and in South Australia. Her husband died only a few years after their migration.[2]
Jane Hillier died of heart disease in Adelaide on 9 January 1862.[2][3]
HILLIER.-On the 9th January, 1862, at her residence, Dorsetta-terrace, Adelaide, Mrs. Jane Hillier, formerly of Brighton, in this province, and relict of the late Mr. John Hillier, of Marlborough, Wilts, England, aged 61 years.
